Secret Message For Dads!

Fathers Day is fast approaching, and I thought why not do something a little different for them this year? Something that they can get involved with and make memories with their little ones.

So with that being said, what is more exciting then receiving a secret message or picture?

The first thing that comes to mind is the old lemon juice trick, which is great, but requires either an iron, oven or holding over a lightbulb for a long period of time. None of these are particularly great for little hands.

I wanted something not only to show instant results and be safe, but also something that produces a bright and vibrant result.

Therefore, I have spent the weekend trying out different methods of secret writing, and this is by far the best!

What will you need:

Turmeric Powder (Please note, this does stain, so I would recommend using a painting apron just incase) Baking Soda

Rubbing Alcohol (Isopropyl Alcohol)

Water

Measuring jug

Measuring spoon

Bowl/ Cup

Paintbrush

Paper

Drying Rack

* Also something to go under your paper whilst revealing the message to protect the table, such as a chopping board or old table cloth.

Instructions:

Mix 1 tsp of Baking Soda with 1/2 cup water, this is now your invisible ink!

  • Using paintbrushes decorate your paper with a picture and message for Dad!

Let it dry.

Dad will be given what looks like a blank page of paper:

When Dad is ready to reveal his secret message... Simply mix 1 tsp of Turmeric with 1/2 cup of rubbing alcohol.

Brush over the whole page.

As the solution dries, the message will become more and more vibrant!

Happy Fathers Day!
