As we sat in the shade of an old oak tree reading a selection of my charges (and mine) favorite books, I thought I simply had to share this great list of creations for those who might be getting tired of reading some of the same books on repeat.. Some are long loved classics and some have been introduced to me along the road of nannying, which I I have fallen head over heals for.

Every week since I have become a nanny, I have always made a trip to the local library to read new books to the children. I truly love how not only do they develop the child, but how they become part of our lives.

Personally, I don't pay too much notice to what age the book is targeted, as I find even if you simply look and talk about the pictures, it opens all sorts of wonderful doors for development.

A large portion of these books I have listed have won the Caldecott Medal, which is "most distinguished American picture book for children" and I truly do think they are worthy winners.

Of course there are plenty of classics like Green Eggs and Ham, by Dr. Seuss, but I wanted to share some diamonds that might not be so obvious.

So in no particular order, here they are!

If you would like any of these great books, simply just click on the picture and it will direct you to amazon :).
